Hello Kathy,
Just wanted to let you know I just finished a COMPLETE grooming session. I've worked with my dog doing just one or two things over the past few weeks to get her used to me doing things I haven't been doing with her—working up to a full "SPA" day — today was IT!!! I am happy to report that Matte looks as cute as a button! The only thing I couldn't get her to hold still long enough for was to put the finishing touch of a little bow in her hair. A groomer gave me a tip on how to do that very quickly using a hemostat but I don't have one yet—so the bow will have to wait for another time.
I'm sure there are areas that aren't perfect—but her overall appearance is very good and I got the personal areas done nicely. One area that I might need to work better on is her armpits and getting the hair out of her ears really good—but I did the best I could this time around and figure I will get better at it each time. Your book REALLY helped boost my confidence and I went about it today as if I knew exactly what I was doing—which I hope gave my dog a sense of security. I noticed that she did not go through all the scared shaking that she does when I take her to a groomer—that made me feel very good. I took time for lots of hugs and praise as I went along—she behaved pretty good and hopefully she will get even better as together, we gain more experience.
So—Thanks again for your clear simple instructions in your grooming book. I appreciate all the help—thank you very much.
Now to go clean my glasses and change my shirt—I'm not sure WHO got the BATH!!! (>:
